كلمة another تعني واحد إضافي أو مختلف . وتستخدم مع الأسماء المعدودة المفرد .

Would you like another sandwich

Have you got these shoes in another colour

Give me another cup , please

كلمة different = other ( أخر ) .. وهي صفة .

كلمة others تعني : الأخرون .. وهي ضمير .

The other boys are not present

The others are not present

** لاحظ أن other جاء بعدها اسم ( boys ) في الجملة الأولي لأنها صفة ..

ولكن others في الجملة الثانية لم يأتي بعدها اسم لأنها ضمير .. ولكن جاء بعدها فعل جمع ( are ) .

نستخدم other مع الأسماء المعدودة والغير معدودة

They crossed to the other side of the road

I like this cheese better than the other

Others may laugh at her but I like her
